To celebrate the inaugural ArchiBall, Kat&Co was commissioned to imagine a ball that relevantly connected to the prestigious Archibald Prize exhibition. The brief was open: demonstrate the joyfulness of this iconic ‘Art for Everyone’ prize with an elevated yet accessible experience. A barefoot and black-tie dinner held within the illustrious Great Halls at the Art Gallery of New South Wales was created―and permitted― the first-time ever in its history. Every surface was artfully draped in artist canvas, blanketing the floor, the dining tables and chairs, surrounding art sculptures and creating a tactile and immersive dining experience like no other. The finale, a captivating contemporary-classical performance by violinist Jane Cho, backdropped by the great masterpieces.
